There are no children here.
There are no corner markets that sell milk, just booze. And Red Bull.
I am very happy.

That's my fiver. I can identify it. It's got a picture of Abe Lincoln on it.
MANY years ago, my brother and I were up early delivering papers when we found a ladies clutch purse in a phone booth (that's how long ago it was). It had $168 in it, if I remember. We took it home and gave it to our dad, who tried to contact the owner, but with no luck. A couple of weeks later we asked about the money. He said he used it to pay bills. My brother and I were pissed. But now that I'm a father of three boys, I can completely understand why he spent it.

I once found a $20 on the ground at Walmart, my mom made me give it to the clerk, apparently (supposedly) her brother had lost it earlier that day.

There are no children here.
There are no corner markets that sell milk.
For our economy has collapsed.
The children died of thirst.
The shops closed, unable to find buyers for their milk.
All because you kept the five dollars.

He definitely tried. I'd turn it into a police station or deliver it to the address on the ID/License.

My dad—as a kid—took $5 to the dairy once and was hauling back a load of milk bottles for his family of 18 when the wagon overturned and they all shattered, scarring him for life.
Lesson learned:
just one word, son...
plastics
.

Me and a friend went to see the Lego Movie at the cheapo movie theatre and found a ladies' handbag with $500 in it. I was about to give it to the attendant, money intact, until I noticed something fishy. The woman had about 5 ID's and Social Security cards in the purse. All the ID's had a picture of the same woman, but with different names. I assumed she was committing some sort of fraud. So we took the money, left the theatre, and bought nearly $200 in sushi at the best sushi place in town.

IIRC, there was no license, or else the address was out of state. However, he may not have tried very hard. I imagine he really needed the money at the time.

Hmmm. I might have called the police. Maybe after nicking a couple hundred from it first, though. I bet she was cashing other people's checks.
ETA: The Lego Movie was awesome.

We didn't even make it to the opening previews. Best 5 dollars I've ever spent, though.

Make sure you file that as income on your 1040 this year.
